Student Broadcast Journalist and Lifestyle/Mental Health blogger, based in Nottingham.
After finishing my A level studies in Psychology, English Language & Literature and Health & Social Care, I started a degree in Mental Health Nursing at The University of Nottingham.
7 months into my degree, several exams and 2 clinical placements later – I discovered that my advocacy and desire to work within Mental Health is best projected through my creativity in writing and media.
Mental health blogging has been part of my life for 2 years now. The skills that I am learning within my Broadcast Journalism degree are enabling me to better myself as a writer and content creator.
Personal experiences with mental health, and learning from others sparked me to create my blog Heather’s Perspective in the summer of 2018. Since then, I have uploaded bi-weekly and created youtube videos alongside this.
My aim is to use my platform to spread awareness, education and support for the everyday mental health complications that everyone can or will experience in life.
Alongside personal blogging, I am a regular contributor to Nottingham Trent’s student media societies. I am the previous Head of Marketing for Fly FM radio (2020), Deputy Head of News for Trent TV (2020-2021) and regular writer for Platform magazine.
